Belgium is one of the world’s leading producers and export countries of European Pork. Its well-controlled production process, backed by years of experience and a clear focus on export, leads to a stable position on the trade market.

Model of Belgian Pig Farming

All Belgian pig farms are conceived in the same way, thus facilitating a unified production process and built-in control procedures (monitored by the Government). This strict organization is crucial in how Belgium keeps ASF out of the domestic herd.

  • Batch breeding
  • Enclosed buildings (zero grassing) without backyard
  • Registration of all farms (FASFC, Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) + individual identification of all pigs
